On the road to a green economy and green society, the global and national efforts to solve the increasing economic and social stress arising from the need to adapt to the environmental changes seem to have had very limited success. The possible reasons are manifold - one of which could be that we have, for the most part, been ignoring the complex relationship among the changes (challenges) until now. It is also true that the importance of complex systemic innovation has yet to be properly recognised. We intend to emphasize its importance by demonstrating the links between long term innovation cycles (waves) and the present challenges.
