Communication directed at the consumers should emphasize that the consumption of herbs can prevent – and often be a treatment for – various diseases. The following marketing communication tools are recommended: public service television commercials, which reach the widest audience; leaflets and brochures distributed at the key points of sale; and the organisation of “Health Days” together with NGOs and governmental aid.
Most of the respondents consumed herbs in the form of herbal teas, or used herbal gels and creams. Respondents listed chamomile, nettle and aloe vera as the most popular herbs. When purchasing herbal products, they said they considered quality the most important, followed by price and the place of origin.
