For the margines of bio-mass theme

Csete, László

Keywords: concept bio-mass, amount, possibility of utilization

In comparing the concepts and approaches for the utilization of bio-mass prepared in the 80’s with those of today’s initiatives it is conspicuous, that
- while older proposals emphasized the primary, secondary and tertiary utilization of bio-mass, within it the primary nature of food production, today’s plans involve primarily fuel and energy production;
- while older surveys accounted for all possibilities of energy production, their conditions and economy, in these days it is the production of bio-ethanol, bio-diesel and power from bio-mass that is placed to the forefront;
- while earlier initiatives paid much attention to the utilization of by-products and debris, today’s experimental approaches concentrate mainly on products of arable land and wood utilization;
- future utilization of bio-mass should on long term involve rationality, sustainability, efficiency, decentralization, diversification and the harmonisation of up-to-date processes (utilization of second generation fuels, lignocelluloses, by-product and debris of agriculture and forestry), commercial interest and goals as well as the fulfilment of conditions for safe food production and climate change (protection of atmosphere and accommodation).
