Our research programme, “Exploration and management of social asymmetries by economic and other related means” was announced two years ago. Several PhD projects were started within this programme. The subjects of the research are connected sub-regions, which form a commonly manageable unit by ecological, economic and social aspects. Every region chosen this way represents a topic, and after vertical processing they provide a valuation of several position parameters (economic, population, employment, income). Finally through the synthesis of the whole programme, practical conclusions can be drawn regarding management methods, suggested measures, and required interventions. Theoretical rural development knowledge is set alongside the practical trend of the programme, forming the social science basis of related higher education disciplines.
