In the agricultural utilisation of the western Transdanubian region, the large farming organisations played a much more important role than the individual privat farms. The average area of all farming units has been substantially larger than the country’s mean, whereas the individual farmers owned smaller fields than the average of the whole country.

In the triennium of the General Agricultural Census of 2000, the number of individual farms diminished as well as that of the farming societies. In the region examined, only the population of the individual farmers has been reduced significantly.
