Envisaged future of Hungarian agricultural policies and countryside development

People employing capacity of agriculture together with that of industry processing its products and making its inputs is very high. Therefore the development of a long-term self-protecting agricultural policy is required that halts a decline of Hungarian agriculture of nearly two decades and creates conditions for fresh development. As an EU member Hungarian agriculture is expected to fulfill a number of objectives: production of healthier food, protection of land and environment and cultivation of national and rustic traditions. To do this it is essential to enact legislation governing land and the structure of its ownership similar to that in other member states. This requires cooperative integration and facilities for collective bargaining. We have to prepare for changes in future climate and drier weather. In cooperation with member states the colonization of home agriculture can be circumvented.
