ICT (information and communications technology), digital and smart tools are an integral part of a competitive agriculture in the 21st century. The world's population is growing, which also means that the demand for food will increase, so there is a need to increase agricultural productivity and efficiency, for which technological innovation is essential. The aim of the research is to present the opinion of the agricultural workers in the Central Region of Romania, in Szeklerland, on the current situation of agriculture, with special reference to the use of ICT, digital tools and solutions. Furthermore, we would like to formulate a vision of the future, which includes the use of new digital technologies and tools. The role of the state, the educational institutions, the farmers' organizations and the agricultural development agency is important and indispensable for the completion of the digitalisation process of agriculture through the development of an appropriate agricultural strategy, the provision of vocational training, awareness raising, specialist advice and financial support.
