In autumn 2023, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences launched a public discussion forum for its members on the use of the Hungarian language as a scientific language. As stated in the call, one of the MTA's most important missions since its foundation has been the maintaining of the Hungarian language. Gazdálkodás is the only scientific journal in Hungarian in the field of agricultural economics and farm management, therefore its editorial committee has always considered it as its duty to carry out the tasks set by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and has published a resolution in the vol. 2004, No. 1 issue on the use of the Hungarian language in scientific journals (Editorial Committee, 2024). In accordance with the statement, the editorial board focuses primarily on the issues of maintaining and nurturing the Hungarian technical language and its everyday difficulties in its own field of expertise, the agricultural economics and farm management. By analyzing a volume of the Journal Gazdálkodás, this study examines what foreign terms the authors use when processing the content of their articles and how justified the use of these terms is. The main conclusion of the analysis is that almost every foreign expression has a Hungarian counterpart that expresses the content more accurately in many cases.
